Musician, drum builder and owner John Dutra began work on Guerrilla Drum Making after realizing what all the online custom and vintage drum making forums lacked: visual communication and realistic strategies.

Guerrilla Drum Making was released in September of 2008, making it the first custom drum making DVD ever.

Carefully constructed and planned out, each chapter in GDM visually demonstrates an abundance of custom drum making possibilities through a “guerrilla” style approach of easy building techniques and simple tools, with professional results.

Taking specialized equipment out of the equation and using simple tools makes custom drum building possible for the guerrilla drum maker, creating a building process that’s more realistic and tangible.

Guerrilla Drum Making has also come at a time when custom drum companies are growing by the numbers, along with the price of custom drums. When comparing the price of custom drums to the price of products and hardware available online to the public, you’ll see that the price difference is one half, or even one third of what you would pay a custom drum company to build a drum set for.
